Sion

Sion is a knight of Cryunne Castle. His party is Foxy, Ture and later Ramyleth.

Mantras below are from New Playthrough where one fits: fire PECOABITNA, water PECOAMINUNA, lightning PECOAUSNA, wind PECOAJINNA, holy PECOAHILINA, dark PECOAMUNYNA.

Armor with an element halves damage of that element and doubles damage of the opposite one, so the gear notes under each boss list what to wear and what to take off. They only include gear you can have by then. Buy lines at each town list what's worth buying there and which fight it's for. See Equipment for stats.

Day 0: Cryunne Castle

  • Meet Foxy and Doug in the reception room, two rooms left on the second floor.
  • Go to the prison in the western basement, then back to the entrance. The guard sends you to the royal chamber for the Tower of Valiant briefing.
  • The Cultist escapes. Leave through the door south of the prison stairs, go through Vad and south to the Tower of the Giants.

Day 1: Tower of the Giants

  • At home in Vad, search the desk left of the stairs for a Logical Cap.
  • In the tower:
    • 1F: two chests, 30 Ragu and a Medical Herb.
    • 2F: take the left stairs for an Alarum. The right stairs drop you through the floor.
    • 3F: reach the chest by going up to 4F and back down the other stairs.
    • 5F: two chests north of the hole, then the south door for the Huey Ring.
    • 6F: Tasty Water.
    • 7F: take the far right stairs. Search the bottle to restore HP and MP, and talk to the statue to save.
  • Search the statue of Abilijer on the roof. Ture joins.

Boss: Abilijer

  • HP: 700
  • Gear: his attacks are physical, so elements don't matter here.
  • Drops: Ogre Mace
  • When he swings his club and talks about waking from his slumber, Upper Attack is next turn. Defend with everyone.
  • He turns darker at half HP.
  • Physical attacks are weak against him. Use fire mantras with everyone, and switch Sion to attacks when his MP runs out.

After the fight, get the Strength Plus to the south. Walk up to the switch on the wall and Ture boosts you up. Take the stairs it opens, drop down the holes for 120 Ragu, and head back through Vad to the castle.

Day 2: Danelf and Mantra Peak

  • The barkeep in Vad teaches mantras and how they're built. You can only inscribe 32, so keep a spread of elements.
  • Put the Big Robe and Ogre Mace on Ture.
  • Buy in Vad: a Buckler for Sion.
  • Go east and north over the bridges to Danelf:
    • Buy in Danelf: an Avenger Sword for Sion, then a Gra Shield for Sion or a Rune Knife for Foxy.
    • Lamias in the grass, not the forest, are good for Ragu. AxisKnights in the forest drop Axis Shields, better than the Gra Shield.

Coliseum

Talk to the women at the back, then take the door on the right.

Match Fighter Enemy HP Notes
1 Foxy or Ture Nergal 150 Attack. Watch for Energy Sword.
2 Sion NergalMstr 350 Only Thunder Sword hurts. Heal if needed.

You win the Storm sword and 500 Ragu. Keep it for Bhadra on Day 5, or sell it if you're short on Ragu.

  • Buy in Danelf: Lemnos Mail (680) or Slamath Armor (930) for Foxy, and a helmet for Sion. Both armors are lightning, for the Amatista fight and Monju. Give Sion Foxy's old armor for the speed.
  • If you have Ragu left, the Hector Armor (fire, 1320) helps against Marica and Surt later.

Mantra Peak

  • Take the boat from the east side of Danelf.
  • Alarum at the start, Tasty Water further up.
  • At the fork, press the button down the left path, then the button inside the chest on the right path. Go back left through the new door.
  • At the top, Zora tells you to find Nurk the merchant in Ompross.

Day 3: Ompross and Mount Delphi

Coliseum: Amatista x2

  • HP: 600 each
  • Wear: Lemnos Mail or Slamath Armor (lightning).
  • Avoid: Ephta's Robe and Logical Cap (wind) take double from their lightning.
  • Weapons: don't use the Storm. It's lightning, so they take half.
  • Choose magic, so you can heal. They're weak to wind: PECOAJINNA.
  • They cast lightning, so don't wear wind defense.
  • Reward: 1000 Ragu and a Magic Leaf.

Ompross and the Tuhla Ruins

  • Take the ship from the Danelf harbor waiting room. In Ompross, cross to the southwest bazaar and talk to Nurk by the water. Surlent is here too.
  • North to Mount Delphi:
    • Follow the water west, then south through the hole for 120 Ragu.
    • North for Tasty Water, northeast, then up the north path for a Spirit Plus.
    • Outside, cross west. South has an Alarum, north is the way on.
  • In the Tuhla Ruins, the floating heads resist attacks and cast fire, so hit them with water. Rescue Ramyleth, who teaches ANIMUS (revive).
  • Go back to Danelf.

Day 4: Tower of Valiant

Boss: Monk

  • HP: 1000, one-on-one with Sion
  • Gear: his attacks are physical, so elements don't matter here.
  • Elemental mantras do 1 damage. Use physical attacks.
  • Use the Magic Leaf first so Sion has MP to heal. Keep HP above half.
  • Once he talks about flaming fists he adds Screw Fist and uses Middle Kick more.

At the top an eclipse starts the 12-day countdown, and you warp to the Sky Islands.

  • Right of the castle, walk up the waterfall path and push into the wall for a Moon Ring.
  • Buy in Len: a Flat Shield (lightning) for Sion for Monju, a Laikas Knife for Foxy, and Packet Mail if you can. Skip the Meio Shield (wind). It doubles Monju's lightning, and Roma's MontanoShield is better for Diyaus.
  • Beze Wing: the Bezewaign in the forest around Len sometimes drop this accessory: Speed +8, MDef 6, wind element. They run away once they're hurt, so kill them in one hit. It also goes on sale in the Ruined City on Day 10.
  • Sigmund Glacier is blocked by ice for now. Go back to town.

Day 5: Garal Tunnel and Clock Tower

Talk to Surt in the throne room, then take the train from the station near the castle entrance.

Boss: Bhadra

  • HP: 1500 · Weak: lightning
  • Weapons: the Storm (lightning) hits his weakness and matches the Avenger's attack.
  • Avoid: wind gear (Ephta's Robe, Logical Cap, Meio Shield, Beze Wing). It stops Float from working, and Float dodges his earth attacks. Cast FLOAT on everyone.
  • Use PECOAUSNA. At half HP he starts Bhadra Bound, about 70 to everyone.

After the fight a man on the train teaches TOME, much stronger than LUS.

  • Garal Tunnel: east hole for a Speed Plus, west hole for Garal Armor (Sion).
  • Rest in the Ark's healing chamber, then enter the Clock Tower.
  • Enemies here are lightning-based. Take off wind-element armor.
  • Treasure: 650 Ragu (left door near the entrance), Power Mace, Life Leaf, Magic Leaf, Jaques Mail (up the ladders past the north door). Drink from the jar at the far south, then save at the statue.

Boss: Monju

  • HP: 2000 · Weak: wind
  • Wear: Lemnos Mail or Slamath Armor, and the Flat Shield (lightning) to halve his lightning.
  • Avoid: Beze Wing, Meio Shield, Ephta's Robe and Logical Cap (wind) double it.
  • Weapons: don't use the Storm (lightning).
  • Almost everything he casts is lightning. Low on HP he uses SUUMEDACO, which hurts unless you have lightning defense.

Day 6: Graham's Tomb

  • Take the train to the Ruined City and give Foxy the Huey Ring.
  • Buy in the Ruined City: an Aegis Shield (fire) for Marica and Surt, and a second Jaques Mail (holy) for Mayura on Day 7. Another Aegis Shield is in the tomb.
  • In the tomb, go to the far right tunnel. The others are dead ends.
  • Get the Hamlet to the right of the stairs (Sion). If you get Kemp Boots, give them to Foxy and the ring to Ture.
  • Run from Kir. They're very hard.
  • Kemp drop the Kemp Boots: Speed +8, fire element.
  • The Ogre Shield (fire) is in a chest here too.
  • Go west, follow the stairs to the save statue, press the southwest switch, drop down the new hole and drink from the jar. Press the button, go down, then press the next button to reach a sealed chest with a shield for Ture.
  • Before the big door, the room to the right has the Aegis Shield and Gregory Armor.

Boss: Marica

  • HP: 2700 · Weak: water
  • Wear: fire gear: Ogre Shield (Def 22) from this tomb, Hector Armor, Aegis Shield, Huey Ring and Kemp Boots.
  • Weapons: Ture's Power Mace is fire, so Marica takes half from it. Have Ture cast PECOAMINUNA.
  • Rex Spin does about 100. Use PECOAMINUNA.

The Graham Sword is upstairs, but it's only 4 attack over the Hamlet. Keep the Hamlet with the Aegis Shield.

Day 7: Ruins of Frey and the Sacred Temple

  • Train to Roma.
  • Buy in Roma: two MontanoShields (wind) for Diyaus, a Raptor Knife for Foxy, and a Sultan Helm (water) for Opsis and Yol-Gee.
  • Ruins of Frey: left stairs, south around the room, west to the next stairs, drink from the jar, drop down the hole and save.

Boss: Opsis

  • HP: 2800 · Weak: fire
  • Wear: water gear: Large Robe (Ture) and Sultan Helm.
  • Avoid: fire gear doubles his water attacks: Ogre Shield, Hector Armor, Aegis Shield, Huey Ring, Kemp Boots.
  • Weapons: Ture's Power Mace (fire) hits his weakness.
  • Mostly weak water attacks. Use PECOABITNA.

Grab the two chests he drops and take the train to the temple. The Opsis Boots (Speed +4, water) are in the Ruins of Frey.

  • Sacred Temple: right path, up two sets of stairs, east to the switch. It drops you to sealed chests: the southwest and northeast are MimicL26. The others are a Large Robe and Large Mace for Ture.
  • Upstairs, press the left switch to drop a jar, drink from it on the right, and save at the green statue.

Boss: Mayura

  • HP: 4600 · Weak: dark
  • Wear: the Jaques Mail (holy) halves her light attacks.
  • Avoid: the Moon Ring (dark) doubles them.
  • Uses light attacks. Use PECOAMUNYNA.
  • After about 2000 damage the background changes and she starts Star Thrust, about 125 to everyone.

Step on the platform and leave as the islands fall. You end up in Len.

Day 8: Len

  • Buy in Len: the Lucius Armor (water, Def 35) for Yol-Gee. Don't wear it against Surt. Babel sells the HeatsealCharm (dark) for Nagiya on Day 10.
  • Rest at the inn, then go to the palace.

Boss: Surt

  • HP: 3357 · Weak: water
  • Wear: fire gear: Ogre Shield, Hector Armor, Aegis Shield, Huey Ring, Kemp Boots.
  • Avoid: water gear: Large Robe, Sultan Helm, Opsis Boots, Lucius Armor.
  • Drops: Large Shield (Ture), sometimes
  • Watch out for Pile Blaster.

Day 9: Sigmund Glacier

  • The cave is open now. Take the right cave to the fake sword and beat the bear. Go back one screen and the bridge appears.
  • Get the chest, save north, drink from the jar on the left and read the sign: go forward two screens, then back one.
  • Follow the bridge south, then all the way west.

Boss: Diyaus

  • HP: 3926 · Weak: lightning · Drops: Amrita
  • Wear: wind gear: Beze Wing, MontanoShield, Meio Shield, Logical Cap.
  • Avoid: lightning gear: Lemnos Mail, Slamath Armor, Flat Shield.
  • Weapons: Sion's Hamlet (lightning) hits his weakness.
  • Use PECOAUSNA, and don't use wind. Air Bomber and PRIONA hit hard, so keep HP up.

Pull out the Sigmund Sword and you fall into the water and get swallowed.

  • Go through the opening and closing door for a chest, then up the ladder on the right for another.
  • Through the door right of the ladder, west along the vines for a chest, then south and left through the door. The merperson tells you how to reach the Heg.
  • Back in the main room, take the right vines south and through the tangle to the door.

Boss: Yol-Gee

  • HP: 4200 · Weak: fire
  • Wear: water gear: Lucius Armor (Def 35), Large Robe, Sultan Helm, Opsis Boots.
  • Avoid: fire gear: Huey Ring, Kemp Boots, Ogre Shield, Hector Armor, Aegis Shield.
  • Weapons: Ture's Power Mace (fire) is good. The Sigmund Sword is water, so Sion should use the Hamlet.
  • Take off the Kemp Boots and Huey Ring, or his water attacks hurt a lot more. Use PECOABITNA.

Day 10: Avdol and Oriab

  • You're in Avdol. The zombies at the port start fights if you talk to them. The inn is free.
  • Go south across the desert, through the Dragon God Ruins and west to Eremia's Manor. Foxy takes you in the back.
  • Chests: Hector Armor, Purifier, Cosmo Gun. Upstairs, search the table for a letter for Foxy.
  • Go to Oriab. Eremia is in the northwest house with the side door. Search the drawer behind him for a Purifier.
  • The pub teaches SOANATES. The forge has the Lucius Armor if you skipped it in Len. Rest, then go back to Avdol.
  • Follow the Cultists down the lab elevator in northeast Avdol.

Boss: Nagiya

  • HP: 4200 · Weak: holy
  • Wear: dark gear: Large Shield (Def 26), Moon Ring, HeatsealCharm.
  • Avoid: the Jaques Mail (holy).
  • He opens with Foxy Killer, which kills Foxy.
  • Uses dark attacks. He's slow, so use PECOAHILINA and heal between turns.

  • Search the northwest house in Avdol for a Magic Leaf.

  • Optional: take the train back to the Ruined City.
  • Buy in the Ruined City: the Rinon Helm (fire) for Ravana and Rudra, and the Beze Wing (Speed +8) for Foxy. The Baker's Cap (lightning, Spirit +8) is good for Ture. You already have a Large Robe.
  • Go to the Heg Shrine in southwest Avdol. The Heg takes you to the Vilshin Ruins, then head to the Lost Forest.

Day 11: Hidden Village

  • The man in the forest says begin at nine, end at six. The paths are a clock: west, north, east, south.
  • Riza is with the sage in the northwest basement and gives you the Revive Herb for Foxy.
  • Buy in the Hidden Village: the Ice Whip (water) for Foxy, for Ravana and Rudra. The Large Shield and HeatsealCharm (dark) are for Taurus and Gomorrah. Skip the Axis Shield.
  • Talk to the three sages in the southernmost house.
  • Boat down the rapids, through the Great Forest to Oriab. The bulletin says to meet Miller the priest.
  • Ship to Ompross, then Danelf, then southeast to the church. Search the drawer, and Miller gives you the Taurus Sword as you leave.

Day 12: Danelf and Cryunne

  • Equip the Taurus Sword on Sion. It's one-handed.
  • Buy in Danelf: the Cassius Mail and Braham Shield (fire) for Ravana and Rudra. Skip the Lucius Armor and Beluga Shield (water), which double both bosses' fire. The Zeland Helm (lightning) is only worth it if you skipped the Rinon Helm.
  • The mantra expert in the pub basement teaches more.
  • Talk to the king. Taurus has gone to the center of the earth.

Day 13: Mantra Peak

A boat waits in Danelf. Cultists overrun the peak, and you have to fight any you touch. The red ones drop Horn Water.

Boss: Ravana

  • HP: 6060 · Weak: water · Drops: Amrita
  • Wear: fire gear: Cassius Mail (Def 34), Braham Shield or Ogre Shield, Rinon Helm, Huey Ring, Kemp Boots.
  • Avoid: water gear: Lucius Armor, Large Robe, Beluga Shield, Sultan Helm, Opsis Boots.
  • Weapons: Sigmund Sword for Sion and Ice Whip for Foxy (water). Not the Power Mace.
  • Fire attacks, so no water-defense gear. Use PECOAMINUNA.
  • MACROPOTIE hits hard even with defenses. The Ice Whip does good damage.

Zora sends you through the portal.

Day 14: Cult Base

Party is around level 34.

  • Light all the torches for the King's Armor and Wind Bow.
  • Purple Cultists drop the Tuval Knife (water dagger, 85 attack) for Foxy. Kill the Cultist before the Inugami it travels with, or you won't get it.
  • Follow the captain: down the center, right to a chest, then left and up. Drink from the jar.

Boss: Taurus

  • HP: 7200
  • Wear: the King's Armor (Def 45) from this base, plus dark gear: Large Shield, Moon Ring, HeatsealCharm.
  • Avoid: the Jaques Mail (holy).
  • Strong physical attacks. Holy mantras and physical attacks both work.
  • Defend when he says "so you want to play." Slayer does about 150 to everyone if you don't.
  • Low on HP he heals himself with Dark Heal.

  • West after the tower, BoneKnights drop the Black Shield, better than the Psycho Shield.

  • Buy in Tarach: the Marcus Armor (Def 51) or Octave Mail (MDef 17), both dark, for Gomorrah. Skip the Hecate's Robe (water), which doubles Rudra's fire, and the Heavy Shield, since the Black Shield is free.

  • Talk to Surlent in the pub and trade the Psycho Shield for the Power Shield or the Apocalypse.

  • North into Shumisen.

Day 15: Shumisen

Party is around level 37.

  • Take the left door for two chests, then talk to Gomorrah and take the teleporter.
  • Press the switch and take the red path: east, up two sets of stairs, down the next for the Hercules Armor. Teleport back, take the red path again and the center stairs.
  • Baalzephon drop the Thor Ring: MDef 12, Spirit +4, lightning.
  • Two hidden chests are near the Hercules Armor: the Dithras, a sword stronger than the Apocalypse, and the Love Whip, Foxy's best weapon. The Love Whip is past a wall you can walk through in the same area.
  • The teleporter with blue torches leads to the boss.

Boss: Rudra

  • HP: 7500 · Weak: water
  • Wear: fire gear: Cassius Mail, Psycho Shield or Ogre Shield, Rinon Helm, Daniel's Robe (Ture), Huey Ring, Kemp Boots.
  • Avoid: water gear: Lucius Armor, Hecate's Robe, Large Robe, Beluga Shield, Sultan Helm.
  • Weapons: Sigmund Sword and Ice Whip (water).
  • Fire attacks, so wear fire defense. Use water mantras or Foxy's Ice Whip.
  • Rudra Quake hits harder than Rudra Laser. Rudra Shock is about 160 to everyone.

On the floating island, go through the south door, east, then south at the fork. Inscribe COABARRIERNA (magic defense up) first.

Final Boss: Gomorrah

  • HP: 12000 · Weak: holy
  • Wear: dark gear: Octave Mail (MDef 17) or Marcus Armor (Def 51), Black Shield or Large Shield, Moon Ring, HeatsealCharm.
  • Avoid: holy gear, even the Hercules (Def 57). The Jaques Mail too.
  • Weapons: Foxy's Love Whip (holy) hits all three summons' weakness.
  • He summons three monsters you have to kill first:
Summon HP Weak
Magician 2500 None
DarkKnight 4250 Holy
Suiryuu 8000 Holy
  • Suiryuu is the hard one.
  • Wear no elemental gear except dark defense, or their mantras tear you apart.
