Getting to Level 1¶
| Step | What to do |
|---|---|
| 1. Account | Sign in to JudgeHub at judge.fabtcg.com with your GEM details. |
| 2. Level 0 | Exams › My Exams › Flesh and Blood Level 0. It's an open quiz, you can retake it, and you can save and come back to it. |
| 3. L1A | The rules exam. You need 85% or better. |
| 4. L1B | The policy exam. You need 85% or better. |
| 5. Checklist | Checklists › My Checklist › Level 1 – Create New Draft. It's auto-reviewed and approved right away. |
- Both exams have to be passed within the last 120 days when you submit the checklist.
- You don't need to have judged any events to take L0 or L1.
- Becoming a judge is free.
- Level 1 judges have to pass an update quiz after each major set release to stay certified.
What Level 1 expects
A Level 1 judge knows the basic rules and policy. They can resolve common card interactions and handle simple judge calls with the right infraction and penalty. That lines up with the two exams: L1A is the Comprehensive Rules, and L1B is the Procedure and Penalty Guide and Tournament Rules and Policy.
After Level 1
Level 2 needs at least 120 days at Level 1, a recommendation review from a Level 2, 2 or more competitive events in the past 365 days, and the L2A and L2B exams at 85%. A person reviews the Level 2 application. Other certifications are L2P-Basic, L2P-Adv and TLC.
Study plan¶
- Read Rules a section at a time and take the matching quiz topic after each one.
- Read Policy & Penalties until you can recite the penalty ladder and the upgrade rules from memory. The quick table at the top is the part to memorize.
- Skim Card Interactions. The release notes show how the rules apply to real cards. Exam questions often look like them.
- Run the full quiz. Keep using Review missed until it's empty, and aim for 85% or better before you book the real exam.
Official documents¶
When documents disagree, the newer one wins. Tournament rules beat card text, and card text beats the Comprehensive Rules (CR 1.0.1).
