Capsule Monsters¶
Seven capsule monsters, one per element, listed in the order you can find them. One fights alongside the party at a time. They're all immune to poison, silence, paralysis and sleep.
Where to find them¶
| Monster | Element | Where | When |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jelze | Neutral | Foomy Woods, through the portal north of the Lake Cave, then left and south | After Tia joins |
| Blaze | Fire | Ruby Cave. Right at the first fork, bomb the wall, press four switches, bomb the next wall, take the teleporter | Before the Tarantula |
| Flash | Light | Northern Labyrinth. Lower-right door of the moving platform room, through a one-way mini maze | Before the Mummies |
| Gusto | Wind | Tower of Sacrifice. Middle door of the bomb-and-arrows room | Before Idura's second fight |
| Sully | Soil | Flower Mountain. The door between the second and third rows of spikes | Before the Rogue Flower |
| Darbi | Dark | The small tree shrine on the crescent-moon island west of the Shrine of Vengeance | Once the ship can reach the south seas, after Dankirk |
| Zeppy | Water | Underwater cave south of Parcelyte. Its two chests have Secret Fruit | After the submarine |
Forms¶
Each monster has four normal forms and a master form (M). Once a monster has reached a form, CAPSULE → CHANGE switches it back to any form it has already had.
| Monster | Form 1 | Form 2 | Form 3 | Form 4 | M |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jelze | Foomy S | Foomy M | Foomy L | Foomy H | Gold Fox |
| Blaze | Armor Dog | Winged Lion | Wing Lizard | Blaze Dragon | Firebird |
| Flash | Shaggy | Sprite | Cupid | Twinkle | Unicorn |
| Gusto | Hard Hat | Blue Bird | Winged Horse | Green Titan | Sky Dragon |
| Sully | Raddisher | Red Cap | Giant | Stonehead | Centaur |
| Darbi | Myconido | Wolfman | Mini Imp | Big Imp | Red Dragon |
| Zeppy | Red Fish | Toadie | Sea Giant | Blue Titan | Fish Head |
- Jelze guards a lot. Steady but not flashy.
- Blaze hits hard but runs away once he's taken about half his HP, so he's poor in boss fights until M.
- Flash is a healer. Weak until M, then very strong.
- Gusto is the fastest and dodges well.
- Sully is the slowest and strongest, never runs, and nothing resists soil. Perish Punch can kill outright.
- Darbi is also immune to instant death, and its own attacks can kill outright. Low GUT, so it runs sometimes.
- Zeppy has high magic resistance and its ice magic silences.
Check in game: one guide calls Gusto's form 4 Green Giant, not Green Titan.
Master forms¶
- Feed the monster until it reaches form 4.
- Use CAPSULE → CHANGE to switch it to the form below.
- Feed it the fruit below.
| Monster | Switch to | Feed | First fruit you can get |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jelze | Foomy H (form 4) | Secret Fruit | Alunze Castle basement chest |
| Zeppy | Sea Giant (form 3) | Flame Fruit | Ruby Cave chest |
| Sully | Stonehead (form 4) | Breeze Fruit | Green Clay drop (around Bound and in the Northern Labyrinth) |
| Gusto | Green Titan (form 4) | Earth Fruit | Sand Gorem drop (around Bound and in the Northern Labyrinth); Dankirk North Dungeon chest |
| Blaze | Wing Lizard (form 3) | Charm Fruit | Evil Fish drop (Tower of Sacrifice) |
| Darbi | Wolfman (form 2) | Holy Fruit | White Dragon drop (Tower of Truth) |
| Flash | Sprite (form 2) | Dark Fruit | Black Dragon drop (around Chaed and in Dragon Mountain) |
Check in game: one guide calls Zeppy's master fruit Blaze Fruit, and another hints the monster mustn't be hungry when you feed it.
Keep the Secret Fruit from the Alunze basement. Zeppy's cave has two more. The Egg Dragon's fruit wish gives 20 of every fruit.
What to feed them¶
The bar under the monster's name fills with each item it eats. Better items fill more. When it's full, the monster grows into its next form.
Feeding order¶
Food that works well, in the order you can get it:
| Class | Food | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Form 1 → 2 | Cheap daggers and armor | Elcid, Sundletan, Alunze shops |
| Form 2 → 3 | Apple Cider (1,000) | Sundletan shop |
| Form 3 → 4 | Bee Rocks | Big Bee drops, Ruby Cave |
| Form 3 → 4 | Bronze Swords (5,000) | Bound Kingdom shop |
| Any form | Magic Fruit, 8 blocks at once | Groupie drops in Idura's fights, Ancient Cave chests |
Tips¶
- Press SELECT on the feed menu to see what the monster wants. Feeding it exactly that item counts double.
- Reset trick: check the request, feed it, then reset and reload. The request stays the same, so you can see it before you spend anything.
- Feeding very expensive items raises its appetite, so each bar needs more. Feed cheap things or its normal fruit to bring the appetite back down.
- Each monster has a normal fruit too: Jelze Secret, Flash Holy, Gusto Breeze, Zeppy Charm, Darbi Dark, Sully Earth, Blaze Flame. Feeding it switches the monster back from M.
