Colosseum

The Colosseum is a district of Grandshelt, through the west exit of the plaza. It's closed early in the game and reopens in Chapter 4. The bulletin board in Zoldaad, the Imperial Capital, announces it.

There's also a Tablet Shard inside. Head all the way west on the first path.

How it works

  • Sign up with the Colosseum Receptionist. Fights come in leagues of five battles. Win a battle to open the next one.
  • The first win of each battle gives a one-time reward. Later wins give a Hi-Potion.
  • If you lose, you can try again. Cleared battles can be fought again.
  • Each battle's detail screen shows its recommended level and first-win reward.
  • Win all five battles in a league to get its Proof of Victory. It opens the next league and adds stock to the shop.

Fledgling League

Enemy levels are higher than the recommended level, especially in Battle 5.

Battle Rec. level Enemies First win
1 25 Wyvern (lv 26), Magma Tortoise (lv 26), Coeurl (lv 27) Magicite Shard
2 27 Chimera (lv 28) Adamantite
3 29 Balaur ×2 (lv 32), Simurgh (lv 32), Blood Worm (lv 32) Ancient Greatsword
4 31 Ice Lizard (lv 34), Gray Bomb (lv 33), Lieutenant (lv 34) Magicite Shard
5 32 Allosaur (lv 37), Ice Sculpture (lv 37), Ahriman (lv 37) Gaia Hammer

The Gaia Hammer is a hammer "that can pulverize boulders."

Battle 1

Enemy Weak to Resists Watch for
Wyvern Ice, Dark —
Magma Tortoise Water Fire
Coeurl Earth — Instant Death attacks

Battle 2

Enemy Weak to Resists Watch for
Chimera Earth, Dark Fire, Ice, Lightning (immune to all three) 14,800 HP and hard to stagger

Battle 3

Enemy Weak to Resists Watch for
Balaur ×2 Fire Ice Easily staggered
Simurgh Wind Earth
Blood Worm Ice, Water —

Five enemies at once. Ice hits the Blood Worm but is halved by the Balaurs, so spread-out spells need care.

Battle 4

Enemy Weak to Resists Watch for
Ice Lizard Fire Ice (immune)
Gray Bomb Fire Ice Self-destructs when its HP gets low
Lieutenant Earth, Water — 26,950 HP and hard to stagger

Fire covers both the Ice Lizard and the Gray Bomb.

Battle 5

Enemy Weak to Resists Watch for
Allosaur Ice Earth Poison attacks
Ice Sculpture Fire Ice (immune) Petrify attacks
Ahriman Ice, Light — 31,300 HP, hard to stagger, Petrify and Instant Death attacks

All three are level 37. The Jeweled Ring (2,000 gil in the Town of Amore, or a chest in Olderion) prevents Petrify and Paralysis, and a Gold Needle cures Petrify.
