Riza

Riza is a young priestess from the village of Karn. Her party is Garlyle, Pipin and later Marina.

Mantras below are from New Playthrough where one fits:

Effect Mantra
Strength down PECOAGODWEAK
Defense down PECOAGODSOFT
Spirit down KIPECOAVIRUS
Magic defense down PECOAGODZERO
Strength up PECOAPOWERUP
Defense up PECOAGAIA
Spirit up PECOASUNA
Magic defense up COABARRIERNA

Elemental barriers are an element word + NAREEM, like IGNAREEM for fire. They halve that element's damage for a few turns.

Armor with an element halves damage of that element and doubles damage of the opposite one, so the gear notes under each boss list what to wear and what to take off. They only include gear you can have by then. Buy lines at each town list what's worth buying there and which fight it's for. See Equipment for stats.

Day 0: Karn and the Forest of Rem

  • After talking to Zeku, the northwest house has a Purifier and Green Bag in drawers. The pub teaches RUMEHATI, which cures all ailments.
  • Forest of Rem, south of town:
    • Cross the bridge for a Rem Herb in the chest poking out of the trees to the north.
    • Tell the Guard the person went right. Down the middle and right for another Rem Herb.
    • South, fight Guards with Garlyle, who joins. Guards drop Medical Herbs.
    • East, the top path is only a mantra puzzle: PULMORA, absorbs MP.
    • Take the east path, 260 Ragu at the exit, then on to Babel.

Day 1: Pure City Babel

  • Guards attack as you enter. Garlyle takes you to the inn.
  • Garlyle is in the slums, east of the inn past the guard at the post. There's a Dirty Hat in the pile of bowls in the middle.
  • The three kids want passwords:
Kid Question Answer
1 In the midst of the light? They will dance.
2 In the deepest recesses of the shadow? It will be born.
3 The blue water? They will protect.
  • Follow them to the hideout basement, then back to the inn to talk to Garlyle and rest.

Day 2: Mayor's House

Climb the ladder in the northeast part of town. The mansion has six doors:

Door Contents
1 (top left) Alarum
2 (top middle) Switch, pull it
3 (top right) Tasty Water
4 (bottom left) Purifier
5 (bottom middle) 500 Ragu
6 (bottom right) Way down into the house
  • Down the ladder in door 6. Right path for Dirty Shoes in the bowls, then left. Up the ladder and down the one on the roof, and search the bowls for a Regulus.
  • Equip the Regulus on Riza and move both of them to the back row.
  • Follow the path to the elevator. Drink from the jar and save on the way up.

Boss: Shivaithan

  • HP: 800
  • Gear: nothing elemental matters. The back row does the work.
  • No weakness. The back row makes this easy: attack, and heal with Riza. JESS hits hard.

Visit Zeku in Karn, who teaches ANIMUS (revive), then take the ship from Babel to Oriab.

Day 3: Oriab, Great Forest and Horn Cave

  • Buy in Oriab: two Lemnos Mail and two Logical Caps. Keep the back-row weapons. Take the Lemnos Mail off for Soma on Day 6.
  • The pub teaches SOAMEL. The northwest house facing out has a Purifier.
  • Great Forest: the right path at the first fork is only a note for PEACE, so go left. Before the bridge, go south past a plant for a sealed chest.

Boss: Setaviza

  • HP: 600, plus 300 for the reptile · Weak: fire
  • Wear: the Moon Ring (dark) from Karn. Dark gear blocks Pollution.
  • Kill the reptile it's holding first.
  • Polluted Mushroom stops you casting mantras. Bring Purifiers.

  • Pipin the Reptile Prince joins.

  • East around the bend, get the Tasty Water before fighting the plant. Cross the bridge for 700 Ragu, east past another plant for a Purifier, then north to the Horn Cave.
  • Horn Cave: down the stairs, south door at the split for two Horn Water, then north over the bridge. Read the book.
  • Go back to Oriab, then ship to Ompross and on to Danelf.

Day 4: Danelf, Vad and Cryunne Castle

  • The pub teaches AQUNA, IGNA, TOUNA, TEONA and YOUTEONA.
  • Northeast house facing east: Dirty Shoes in a drawer.
  • Go to the Coliseum, back into town, then back to the Coliseum. The king runs out.
  • Southeast to the church. Check the goddess statue and Miller talks to you.
  • West to Vad. Doug is in Sion's house, in the center facing out, and there's a Logical Cap in the drawer. The pub teaches the LUS mantras.
  • Cryunne Castle: west, upstairs, west, downstairs, then down the middle to the prison. The sealed chest has the Tybalt Mail, very good for now.
  • Buy in Cryunne: a Meio Shield (wind) for Soma. Take it off for Brusty and Karla.
  • Talk to the king, take the 100 Ragu and rest.

Day 5: Spirit Temple and Sacred Forest

  • South of Danelf, answer No, then To go to the mountain.
  • In the temple, pick Water or Earth:
    • Water: Antares rifle for Garlyle and a Horn Water.
    • Earth: Life Leaf and Jackal Nail for Pipin. The shop below sells a nail just as good.
  • The guard in the lower left shows the way. Talk to Soma and rest at the inn on the left.
  • Buy from the merchant: a Bison Claw (lightning) for Pipin. It hits Soma's weakness.
  • Drop down the hole and go south.
  • Sacred Forest:
    • Right side: Open Helm.
    • Behind the tree on the left: Purifier.
    • South, right at the split: DOA machine gun for Garlyle. It hits all enemies. Keep the rifle for bosses.
    • Through the big bushes: Horn Water.
    • Left at the split to the temple. Talk to Aqua.
  • Equip the Antares before leaving Aqua. Demons attack on the way back.

Boss: Evil Ghost

  • HP: 2000 · Weak: holy
  • Wear: the Moon Ring (dark) halves his dark mantras.
  • Weapons: don't use the DOA. It's dark, so he takes half.
  • All dark mantras, mostly on everyone. Heal with LEFNA every turn, attack with Pipin and Garlyle, and magic defense up helps.

Day 6: Guardians, Mantra Peak and the Netherworld

Aqua didn't give permission, so you fight the guardians. Rest first.

  1. Earth Guardian
  2. Water Guardian
  3. Three Fire Guardians
  4. Soma

Boss: Soma

  • HP: 1670 · Weak: lightning · Drops: Soma (boots: Speed +4, wind)

  • Under half HP he uses SHIITAERI and Power Wave, about 120 to everyone. Level up before this fight.

  • Go south through the Sacred Forest to the Ark. Dune and Cid give you the Holy Grail and Holy Robe. Heal in the next room. The Ark moves.

  • Mantra Peak:
    • Horn Water at the start, Green Bag under the bridge.
    • Once it's dark, walk left into the waterfall to slide down to a level 17 Mimic, about 1000 HP, for a Horn Water.
    • Talk to Zora through the middle door: first option, Aqua, then Nothing.
    • Behind the waterfall, the mantra mistresses teach a mantra and give you the Pure Ring.
    • Talk to Zora again to go down to the Netherworld.
  • Limestone Cavern:
    • Talk to the Cultist at the front of the line, then go back to the end. Beat the Cultists after the child scene and follow one down the river.
    • Talk to Marina. When the fake mother tells you to get up, don't. Wait for your real mother, who gives you a bow. Getting up starts a Ghost fight.
    • Marina joins. Drink from the jar, then go to the next cave.

Boss: Brusty

  • HP: 2428 · Weak: wind · Drops: Horn Water
  • Avoid: wind gear (Soma boots, Ephta's Robe, Logical Cap, Meio Shield). It stops Float, and Float dodges PRATAHNA. Cast FLOAT.
  • PRATAHNA does 100–120 to everyone, sometimes every turn. He's slow, so keep healing and use PECOAJINNA.

Take the HolyTree Seed.

Boss: Karla

  • HP: 2000 · Drops: Moon Ring
  • Wear: fire gear like the Hector Armor halves her fire mantras.
  • Avoid: wind gear, so Float can still dodge her earth mantras.

    • Left path from the mouse: read the Biotank manual, then down the ladder for the King Bear.

Day 8: Gomorrah City

The sky islands fall. Marina leaves the egg in the clean water at Roma.

  • Go southeast to the new land and Gomorrah City.

  • Southwest bowls: Horn Water and Purifier. East of that doorway, a chest with a strength-down mantra puzzle.

  • Southeast bowls: Spirits. Down the ladder in that house: Purifier.
  • Northeast house: down the ladder, west along the wall for the Thunder'sTail. Pull the switch down the second ladder, then the one south around the wall to take the elevator.

  • Heal at the upper right monitor, then pick a character at the upper left.

Boss: Laumen

Boss: Danapati

  • HP: 4437 · No weakness
  • Wear: the Hecate's Robe (water, MDef 33), if you found it here, halves his water attacks.
  • Avoid: fire gear: Hector Armor, Aegis Shield.
  • Very easy. Normal attacks do about 120.

  • Ride the Hegs to Lyla. The elder is straight north. The southeast pub teaches AQUTEUM.

  • Buy in Lyla: a new spear for Marina, and the Aqua Ring and Alexis Mail (water) for Sodom. Skip the MontanoShield (wind).
  • Cyprus: now that you can ride the Hegs, a chief appears in the Sacred Forest and drops this dark spear, Marina's best weapon. Kill the chief first.
  • The Hegs on the south side take you to the Vilshin Ruins.

Day 11: Hidden Village and Vilshin Ruins

  • Lost Forest: paths are a clock starting at nine: west, north, east, south.
